CITY MUSEUM GALLERY

The art gallery on the second floor of the City Museum displays both fine and decorative art drawn from the permanent collections.
This includes paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, furniture, glass and textiles.
Works in the collection include those by local artists and craftsmen and from further afield and cover a period of approximately 500 years.

JACK HOUSE GALLERY

Opened in April 2015 this is a contemporary art gallery situated in Old Portsmouth just up the road from Portsmouth Cathedral and a short walk to the Dockyard. Owner Rebecca Crow trained as a painter, but for many years has focused on curating most recently in the Middle East.

The gallery programme is enhanced with related events, talks and projects and we encourage local schools and organisations to enjoy what we do here.

THE SQUARE TOWER

Built in 1494 during the reign of Henry VII, the Square Tower has had a varied history, it was designed as part of the fortifications to protect the rapidly expanding Naval Port.
The tower is now a multi use venue and regularly exhibits works of art, paintings, ceramics and jewellery produced by local artists and craftsmen. The tower is part of the ARTches project aimed at turning the historic buildings in Old Portsmouth into an Arts and Crafts quarter for the city.
