NAVY DAYS 2010 PORTSMOUTH DOCKYARD.
Two of the Royal Navy's newest warships the Type 45 Destroyers, HMS Daring and HMS Dauntless will be on display at Navy Days and open for the public to tour. Please note: HMS Daring will not be open to the public on Friday 30 July.
Also on display at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard will be two Type 23 Frigates, HMS Richmond and HMS Westminster, the workhorses of the Royal Navy surface fleet along with
the aviation training and casualty receiving ship, RFA Argus.
Navy Days allows you access to areas not normally open to the public, visit the ships and meet the crews of the Royal Navy and visiting foreign naval warships.
Navy Days is not confining itself to the sea, there are some exciting aerial displays as well. The Royal Navy Helicopter display team the Black Cats will be performing
and the Royal Artillery Black Knights parachure display team will also be dropping in.
Back on the water the RNLI lifeboat service will be mounting an exciting display in conjunction with the Solent Coastguard rescue helicopter India Juliet.
Two teams will be competing in the Brickwoods Field Gun competition,
the competition simulates the drill which would have been undertaken to bring a naval field gun into action during the march to Ladysmith during the Boer War.
As well as all of the special displays and events, all of the permanent attractions at the Historic Dockyard are included in the Navy Days entrance price,
such as HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and Action Stations, the Mary Rose ship hall however is closed during the cosntruction of a new museum and will not re-open until mid 2012.
Navy Days Portsmouth is taking place on Friday 30th July - Sunday 1st August 2010. The site opens at 10:00 and will close at 18:00. Last admission times to the ships and attractions will be at 16:00.

Parking is available at the Historic Dockyard car park at Admiralty Road just off of Queen Street, car park postcode for sat-nav use is PO1 3LA.
This car park has a capcity of 295 parking spaces and is bound to be very busy, public transport links to Portsmouth Dockyard, rail, bus and ferry, terminate at The Hard a very short
walk from the Dockyard main gate and would be a good alternative.
